My Colour Poem

Turquoise is a beautiful, light cold blue flower.

It sounds like  blue water crashing into the rock in the shallow blue sea. It tastes like a blueberry fizzy drink.

Turquoise looks like the sky and feels like a softened candy floss in your hands.

Today we are learning to use Mood and Atmosphere in our writing and to find the connotations of colours.

My maths

Today I am posting my maths. The math we are focusing on is fractions like Improper and mixed numbers.

How to learn to brush your teeth better

"We were given some instructions on how you brush your teeth. Our task was to share these instructions in a creative way. I chose Canva because it was easy to use and it will be easy for all of us to read.

3 ways to present my DLOS

Speech

Good morning, My name is Skylah and I am a year 8 student. I'm in Room 10 and my teacher’s name is Nikita but you already know that. I am here to convince  you that Heroes are ordinary people because anyone  can turn into heroes.   What do you think about ordinary people becoming heroes? (WAIT) Do you think it’s possible? I'm ordinary, and so are you and so are you. But all of us can become heroes. I think ordinary people can become heroes by saving people from dangerous situations or doing small things to help others.

Like I have said before People start out as ordinary but become heroes when they help someone or do something good. For example the road workers  became heroes by fixing up the roads for the car to drive on, this might now sound like something a hero does but  if the roads aren’t ok to drive on,  we wouldn’t be able to go to school, our whanau wouldn’t be able to work, you wouldn’t be able to buy things you need like food and it would be like another level 4 lockdown! So in my eyes, road workers are heroes. Everyone can become heroes by doing something good and even by helping people. Anyone can become a hero.
Moving on to my next point.  Like I said, anyone can become heroes however some  people can become heroes by doing something that no one else can do.  Some people do things that aren’t ordinary, things that nobody else can do. I believe some people are special.
Here is an example: Greta Thunberg was a great young  leader by saying to Donald Trump 'You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words’. She was talking about always  look after the environment, no more throwing your rubbish outside and always put it into the recycle bin.  She is not an ordinary person but you can tell she is a hero. Greta Thuberg is a young leader. She stood up for herself and the environment by saying a speech in front of a huge audience! I bet that all of us here would be nervous to talk in front of a  big audience.  I think she would have been scared but she did it anyways.
What would you  do if you were to become a hero? You could do anything that helps people.
As you can see  heroes are ordinary but some people do things that aren't ordinary.

Passion

 Dear School
From the day I came
You were the thing that came in my life because I could learn a lot of things like Reading, Writing and Maths and I got to do a lot of Writing and reading because of you.
My life would have been ruined but when you came my life got better because I got to learn more things about the world and about other things that I do not know and I got to learn my own counter by learning it from my teacher that knows my counter.
I am so lucky that I got to go to school to learn things and it would be easier for me to learn because my teachers were teaching me how to write better and read better.
My facts are why school is my passion because people can learn things that no one knows about and people can write better if they keep on writing in their book so they can get better but not massy.
Facts about school
New Zealand has over 2,500 primary and secondary schools
School is important because it gives people the building blocks to do many things
School helps you with your education and environment
In fact, over 78 million  kids, teens and adults go to school.
Some people do science for school
